coaching.
I offer pay-what-you-can audition coaching. If you or someone you know may be interested, drop me a line here.
Here are a few folks I've coached in the past:
"Rachael is fantastic. Her advice is insightful and efficient and gets right to the heart of scenes and monologues. I find myself more prepared and more confident going into auditions after I've worked with her." -Jaime Nicole Riggs, NYC actor
"Rachael helped me clarify my goals and offered solutions that were creative and practical. She created a warm, inviting environment from the first moment of our session and asked questions that helped me get unstuck."
-Sherill-Marie Henriquez, NYC actor
"Rachael Murray is a fantastic acting coach. She is a go-to for anyone who needs help shaping a character, directing a monologue or working on a big audition. I have utilized her expertise on many occasions. Rachael guides you to make new discoveries about your character and the script, which is extremely helpful. She is a joy to work with."
-Katie Maconaughey,NYC/DC actor
"Rachael is someone that works with you to better your performance and strives to makes sure that you feel comfortable and confident with your material. Her notes are specific and are communicated in a way that you can fully understand. She truly cares about who you are as an individual. Overall, she is extremely helpful and a great artist to work with!"
-Danielle Burman, actor/singer/dancer. Coached for college auditions. Will be attending Long Island University in the fall of 2018.
"Upon graduation, I was preparing for the D.C. Non Equity Auditions, and realized I didn't have to stress on my own; I could see if Rachael might be able to help me with her experience on both sides of the audition table. Immediately she agreed to help me, and she used her experience to calm my audition anxieties with her monologue coaching and descriptions of what these companies are looking for: to see who we really are. Without Rachael I may not have worn what made me feel the most myself, felt confident in the process long before entering the space, and found a certain zen while waiting in line that I am showing who I am. Rachael was a wonderful resource and friend to me."
-Kenzy Forman, DC Actor

consulting.
Writing doesn't have to be so lonely.
I am a director primarily focused on new play development, and I am also a playwright myself. Especially in the early days of a script, it can be very helpful to have someone lend a second set of eyes, a listening ear, or constructive notes and questions. I am happy to provide script consulting, in a variety of flexible ways--be it one-off notes, or regular meetings. Get at me and let's talk about your play.
